A Rare Treasure

For those of us old enough to recall the glory days of Men at Work, Colin Hay's voice is unmistakable... sweet and raspy and filled with emotive range. The years have aged his voice and spirit like a 12-year scotch whisky and this album is a showcase of his singing and songwriting at its best. Backed by a full studio band (he often performs solo), the tracks on this album range from sly (Lucky Bastard), to repentent (Small Price to Be Free) to simple contentment (Beautiful World). Each is masterfully crafted and performed. Company of Strangers, about the sinewy bond between weary road performer and his audience, is poignant and uplifting all at once. Beautiful World has become one of Colin's finest "signature" songs that never seems to get tired of being on heavy rotation in my 'pod. The final track, And If You Only Knew, is a quirky Beatles-esque gem that would not have been out of place on Abbey Road. From start to finish, Company of Strangers is one of Colin's strongest albums to date. Don't miss it!

Bravo!!!

Let me start by saying how much I love Colin's music, writing and vocals. This is an outstanding cd with some great music (ok, all the tracks are great)...but one stands out to me a little more. "Dear J" a song Colin wrote in part for John Lennon and also another friend of his who died. You can feel the emotion as he pours his feelings into this song. Other songs that are awesome, "Lifeline", "Beautiful World", "Small Town Big Hell", "No Win Situation"...just buy the whole cd, you'll love it!!!

Nice Album

Excellent lyrics and great vocals from Colin Hay, but not the best I've heard from him. The only track that really seems to stand out is the title track. The title track is by far the best one on the cd. If you like this then check out his new work, Are You Lookin At Me.
