What a great surprise!
Jeff Beal has written a ton of TV music, but never anything quite as sweeping and gorgeous as this stuff. I haven't seen this series, but the music makes me want to: it's haunting and dark and very Russian-angst-sounding, and 27 cues for 9.99?? An amazing deal any way you slice it. Really outstanding work here, worthy of a feature film.

I think Jeff Beal is one of the most talented AND under-appreciated composers out there right now. He's one of the emerging composers like Jeff Toyne, Josh Kramer, and Nico Muhly that I'm very much looking forward to hearing more from in the near future.

besides the absolutely amazing mini tv series "the company", itunes has surprised me totally with offering the soundtrack. its crisp, its genious, its heartbraking, one of the finest instrumental music albums I've ever heard. i recommend watching the series and getting the soundtrack as well. it will remain in your memory for ever as something very special.
