Best of the Lot
I have listened to, and played, most of the music on this album. But this is the first performance of this set in which you can actually hear and enjoy all of the inner voices. Often these inner voices are overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of the sound. This even bests the performance by the Eastman Winds some years ago.
NTWS - To Infinity and Beyond
The North Texas Wind Symphony does it again as it hits another home run with this compilation of the wind works of Gustav Holst. The album is a balance of precision and 'pure performance' - spending a much needed dose of time and effort to make sure each work is recorded properly and with ultimate beauty. It is amazing how an ensemble of soon-to-be professional musicians can collaborate on a recording project of such magnitude and deliver a valuable, important and historic product to the classical music community. Great job!
At last!
Finally, a Holst album that's NOT the Planets! I've played the first suite, love it, and love everything else on the album. If you like Holst, you really can't go wrong.
