The Next Big Thing

This album is totally dope, the best mix of electronic music. This kid is only 13 and can compete with the big guy, keep it up dude your gonna be Hugeee.

Finally

The album is finally here and it is awesome!!!!

Must-Buy. Genre-Smashing. Club-Worthy... Bloody. F%$#ing. Fantastic.

How to describe Prolugez? Take the wobble and synth creativity of Skrillex, the heart-quaking beat navigation of Nero, and the melodic finesse of Deadmau5. Oh… that... and he's only 13! In Prolugez's debut album Connection, he takes for a thrill ride through his multi-faceted repetoire telling us through his music: "It doesn't matter what style of electro you like, I'll not only do it all, I'll have you begging for more."

Prolugez opens the album entrancing us with "Random Dayz." At first listen “Random Dayz” opens with a fantastic classic electro intro comparable to the compositions of Deadmau5. But, just when you think you have the track figured out down comes a flawlessly orchestrated House melody-line as catchy as anything on the billboard top 100. Mixing in the melodic deviation couple with DnB-quality underlays, this song shows from the get go; Prolugez is here and he means business.

Next up Prolugez throws us for a loop with the brain-melting House/Dubstep banger “Monster.” Starting with a clever pre-emptive utilization of his wobble’s synth arrangement, Monster blows straight into a hard-hitting house melody before dive-bombing into a drop truly deserving of the name Monstroust. Grungy wobbles, with an undiluted House outro, what more can we ask for?

3rd up we’re treated to the Electro/Dubstep masterpiece “Bail.” A purist electro intro and melody contrasted by headphone-melting dubstep breakdown midway through the track. Electro melodics on par with hits like “Raise Your Weapon” and wobbles worthy of comparison to Skrillex’s “Cinema” (despite lacking sufficient variation at times). “Bail” proves to be prodigiously-composed twist that adds even more depth and flavour to an already astonishing album.

Blasting straight into sand-paper rough synth blasts, “Robotz” throws some well-awaited grungy Dubstep into the mix. The grinding dirtiness of the wobbles in “Robotz” leaves fleeting comparisons to those in Porter Robinson’s “Spitfire,” although in “Robotz” the arrangement is done in a way that makes them worlds apart at the same time. Admittedly however, “Robotz” is, with all that said, the weak link of the album, lacking the variety and cross-genre innovation of the other songs on the album, “Robotz” is still one hell of a tune, the others are just… Better.

Skrillex, meet “Club Night”. “Club Night,” meet Skrillex. “Club Night” is an example of popularized Dubstep at its finest. “Club Night” gives off a VERY Skrillex feel (although sharper and a little harder from start to finish). Some people may consider this a bad thing… but let’s be honest… we’re not complaining. This may give off a Skrillex feel but the melodic arrangements in the latter part of the song set a clear line as to where those similarities end. This song is by No means a wanna-be Skrillex track it is more so an interpretation and reinvention of Skrillex-esque style and it is (pardon my French) F%$#ing Insane.

Continuing in the Skrillex-esque style, we hit “Rebuild” which, although using Skrillex-like arrangement, totes a fantastically unique wobble, a piano interlude akin to Gemini’s “Graduation,” and one of the best drops on the album. This tune really shows off Prolugez’s versatility to accommodate and incorporate acoustic melodies as well as wonderfully satisfying drops. An auto-add to any gamer’s playlists.

Finally we reach the title track; “Connection.” Easing in with Deadmau5-like electro melody, contrasted by a house-style synth, and gradually built up by a slamming snare build-up, “Connection” (lightly) drops into a slamming House track. Dashes of flavour left right and center with frequent wobbles inserted for variety, “Connection” proves to be a high-energy club-worthy tune with a re-drop 3 quarters through that is so flawlessly composed it will leave the listener imagining a smoke-laden club floor. Prolugez closes out the album the same way he began, with an unspoken statement: “Who’s ready for more?”
