Great Collection of Squire's Best
In my book Chris Squire is the best ensemble bassist of all time. Along with Paul McCartney, Squire catapulted the bass guitar into more than a supporting role. He eclipsed McCartney in creating pungent bass harmonies that diverted attention away from more traditional lead instruments. Squire can also write. His classic compositions like Hold Out Your Hand and The More We Live show an imaginative writer. Because of his past experiences in choir, his harmonies are tight and complex, allowing his voice to soar. This mixed with adept orchestration create a great compilation album. Billy Sherwood ain't no slouch either. His work is fluid and complex. This is a great group of songs.
Feel It
As has always been the case with Chris Squire, you can literally feel the bass and I don't mean because the sub-woofer is cranked up. This guy can play it like no other!
Great!
Chris and Billy know how to rock. Thank God for their refusal to give in to the lure of mediocrity.
