Kemp in concert
I had the opportunity to attend a concert held in Taos, NM in March of 2006, in which Laura Kemp and Steve Smith preformed. They did an excellent job of conveying their talent and mesmerizing the audience. I purchased a CD from each, however, several songs were on the album Corduroy which was out of print. Ms. Kemp directed me to this site. The song Dimes Down was especially haunting to me when she sang it at the concert, so I wanted a copy. I found several of the songs to be terrific, so I just purchased the album as a download. Excellent music! Recommend it!
Poignant literate songwriter - evocative warm vocals
Laura Kemp is a gem of a songwriter. Her lyrics range from personal insights to keen observations to gentle wisdom. Delivering songs with potent, versatile vocals and fluid guitar lines, she is a powerhouse in concert and on recordings. The CD begins with the strong declarations of "Dimes Down", moves through the poignant "Ash and Soul", "Corduroy", and "Nora" into the humor of "My Humans." There is not a weak track on this recording. Highly recommended - wish Laura made it to Massachusetts more often!
