Beautiful

nice, simple, and sweet. relaxed melody, with the classic mahaffey production. feels fresh and for me at least brings a wonderful sence of nostalgia. its been a long while since weve had an official self release and we need it now more than ever. everyone should seek out the entire self catalogue as theres something for everyone, no matter what type of music you like. Welcome back Matt... weve all missed the style of music only you can make :)

Subliminally Breakin' Serenade - Wired All Awesome

I consider it a tragedy Matt Mahaffey never hit bigger. However, even today - listening to this sweet, well-written new tune as well as Subliminal Plastic Motives, Half-Baked Serenade, Feels Like Breakin' S#*%, Breakfast with Girls and every B-side everyone should rabidly try to get their hands on as well as his side project Wired All Wrong (best album next to SPM) - although it's tragic he never got bigger, it's not surprising. Even the mastery he wrote back in 1996 is still ahead of the curve. The common radio listener still may not "get it," but his hooks are inarguably sharp.

Mahaffey's creativity leaks from every pore of his writing and arranging. Although this means some of his musical tangents won't be your favorite, you will never, ever be able to deny his sheer originality or consider any of his works dull.

Selfish

I bought Subliminal Plastic Motives as soon as I had heard So Low.

Been a huge fan since.

Now I have to clean my brain from the wall. Cause my head exploded when I found this today.

Matt save us from terrible music. I'm selfish. I want it all now.

Thank you.

P.S.~ Get Subliminal Plastic Motives on here pretty please.

During high school and college he became proficient at home recording, setting up a studio in his basement and recording demos, some of which eventually became part of his debut album, 1995's Subliminal Plastic Motives. The album, an eclectic blend of power pop, hip-hop, and samples, earned Self a devoted following...
