Album Review

In 2002, Sounds of Gospel released Count It All Joy/He Gave Me Nothing, which contained two albums — Count It All Joy (1990, originally released on Sounds of Gospel) and He Gave Me Nothing (1990, also originally on Sounds of Gospel) — by the joyous Clark Sisters on one compact disc.

Priceless

With musical guests, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, every song seems to hold ones attention and kinda, makes them enjoy this! lol. The harmonies are unbeatable, and the song arrangments are perfect. The message within every song is well received by any listener, as this can relate to all. A perfect buy!

Long Overdue (and w/ 16 songs, a Bargain, Too)

This is a great album. I am happy to see that these albums have been recently and finally released in CD format. The Clark Sisters are a pioneering and the premier gospel group. Artists today are still trying to achieve the hamonies and vocal dexterity that the Clark Sisters displayed way back then. And the organ work of Twinkie is second to none. I also think that early focus on literal rendition of scripture in song was just that--early. There is one unfortunate aspect, however, of any Clark Sisters recording---it pales in comparison to a live perfomance by much. You really ought to have been there in Bailey Cathedral those many nights past midnight when so many of the Clark Sisters recordings were made. I have not heard any of their recordings come close to those live performances. This combined album is second to that--but a great second it is. My favorites of the album are "A Praying Spirit," "Nothing to Lose," and "God Understands All." Begining the second group is "Count it all Joy"--not "Counting on Joy," as the song is listed. Be touched and be blessed!

You dont know what you started

By far this is the premire group of gospel . And I hope this wont be the last of there stuff . Praying spirit and Nothing to lose are just two of the great and to hear the new album coming out that is live ................. oooh I cant wait . They do alot of the old stuff and its just awesome .

One of the top female gospel groups in the United States, the Clark Sisters were led by organist/vocalist Elbernita "Twinkie" Clark-Terrell. The five sisters have continued to expand the legacy begun by their mother, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. Dr. Clark, who served as National Music Department president of the Church of God in Christ based in Memphis and founded the Clark Conservatory of Music in Detroit, where the sisters continue to teach, was the first gospel artist to be awarded a gold record and...
