iTunes Review

With a quiet sort of mastery Andrew Peterson spins tales of yearning and redemption on Counting Stars. Over the years, this accomplished singer/songwriter has emerged as one of Christian music’s most thoughtfully poetic voices, avoiding easy clichés in favor of stories rooted in everyday experience. He upholds his high standards on his latest work by setting cleanly wrought lyrics to evocative acoustic guitar-based melodies, dressed up with banjos, violins and percussion. Songs like “Many Roads,” “World Traveler” and “God of My Fathers” take a wide-angled view of life in vividly unfolding imagery. Peterson is especially eloquent when he depicts the dark nights of the soul that even believers experience — “You Came So Close” and “The Last Frontier” manage to find hope amid despair. Whether he’s celebrating the bonds of marriage (“Dancing In the Minefields”) or reminding himself of his true calling (“Fool With a Fancy Guitar”), Peterson’s music combines humility with a hard-won sense of joy.

Subtle Beauty

I once said that the art of an album was dead, replaced by Itunes singles...well Andrew Peterson has proved me wrong...Counting Stars is a wonderful treasure trove of songs with many beautiful threads holding them all together and displayed as a patchwork quilt of a story...Buy the album and take his advice of "Let go of all that's passing...Lean into something lasting"

Counting Stars

If you like catchy tunes with hooks that are repeated over and over you probably won't like AP's music much but if you like song that will pull you inside them and dare you believe Truth then give his music a listen. Counting Stars is will mess you up in a most delightful way.

All the elements of good music

Great metaphors, powerful stories, strong artistry and excellent muscianship mix on AP's new album. The theme of family runs through many of the songs, as the title referencing God's promise to Abraham suggests. In an age of cheesy, cliche Christian music, Andrew Peterson consistently produces thought-provoking, worship-inspiring, heart-rending lyrics.
