Customer Reviews

To the reviewer "sharokarr"

First off, if you're going to insult an album then atleast learn to spell. Second, you say "whod wanna lisen to this, its all about deth an destruction, lisenin to that makes ppl go crazy and murder or sometin like that" You say you like Slayer in your other reviews, yet Slayer is "all about deth and destruction" also. Third, "you cant undrstand what theyre saying, they mite as wel say roh roh ruh rohroh" If you can't understand what they're saying, then you need your ears cleaned. Now, for the album. This is (IMO) Morbid Angel's second best album, with Altars of Madness being their best. With Rapture kicking things off right, this is a sick album already. Buy this if you love death metal.

ATTENTION BAD REVIEWERS:

TO SHAROKARR: You're an idiot. Slipknot better than Morbid Angel? Yeah right. Their idea of riffing is B-B-B-B over and over again while Corey Taylor shouts whatever comes to his head. And what does come into his head is garbage about teen angst. And you say "deth and destruction drive people crazy", yet you listen to Slayer. Slayer was doing "deth and destruction" before Morbid Angel was a band, so learn your music better before you write a review. TO JESUSCHICK: No one on this page wants to hear you rant about all of us going to hell. And by the way, I'm a Christian myself, but that doesn't mean I listen to what Pat Robertson says, cause guess what? He ain't always right. Christians like you make Christians like me more open to the MESSAGE of Morbid Angel as well as the ungodly guitar work of Trey Azagthoth, the awesome AND easy to understand vocals of Dave Vincent, and Commando's wicked awesome drum work. So just back off and maybe you'll save more people...lol. As for the album itself...I'm short on room so I'll just give ratings and recommendations instead of full song breakdowns: Rapture- Rating: 10/10. Must-have. Pain Divine- Rating: 9.3/10. Must-have. World of S***(The Promised Land)- Rating 10/10. Must-have. Vengeance is Mine- Rating: 9.5/10. Must-have. The Lion's Den- Rating: 10/10. Must-have. Blood On My Hands- Rating: 9.7/10. Must-have. Angel of Disease- Rating: 10/10. Must-have. Sworn to the Black- Rating: 10/10. Must-have. Personal favorite M.A. song. Nar Mattaru- Rating: 8.9/10. Highly Recommended. God of Emptiness- Rating. 10/10. Must-have. Album rating: 9.7/10. Must-have, especially if you're interested in the roots of death metal and the genre's best albums.

My Favorite Morbid Angel Album

Morbid Angel, in my opinion, is one of the best death metal bands to ever grace this earth, and "Covenant" is proof. Pete "Commando" Sandoval is an amazing drummer, especially on the opening track "Rapture". David Vincent really stands out from the rest of the vocalists by not using the generic "cookie monster" vocals and doing something original. This disc contains 10 well done tracks of good death metal, and closer "God Of Emptiness" takes elements of sludge metal in the end to create something with a more depressing feel to it. Recommended.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s

Groups like Venom, Mercyful Fate, and Slayer may have founded death metal in the early '80s, but it wasn't until such disciples as Morbid Angel came along at the close of the decade that the genre was pushed to its most extreme level, both musically and lyrically. Formed in 1984 in Florida, Morbid Angel (along with Death) would also help spearhead an eventual death metal movement in their home state, which would include such notables as Deicide and Obituary, among countless others. From its inception,...
