iTunes Review

Nobody in pop music could sneer like Billy Idol — he took Elvis’ saucy lip-curl and turned it into a badge of disdain and defiance. His punk-derived, metal-tinged output in the ‘80s and early ‘90s matched his facial attitude, and the tracks found here offer a sustained dose of Idol’s renegade charisma and bad boy panache, enriched by the crack lead guitar of Steve Stevens and the icy-hot production of Keith Forsey. Rockabilly, British punk, and synth-pop elements are melted down into a streamlined alloy, framing lyrics both erotic and alienated. Billy’s dark croon infuses the likes of “Dancing With Myself,” “White Wedding,” and “To Be a Lover” with an inviting sort of menace. He enters ethereal realms with the dreamy “Eyes Without a Face,” then gets crazed and carnal on a sweaty cover of Tommy James’ “Mony Mony.” Among the most convincing cuts here is “Cradle of Love,” a taut rocker released towards the end of Idol’s hit singles run. Also check out the swaggering version of “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” that pre-dates the Simple Minds’ version of the tune. Idol's best moments are nothing to sneer at.

When I was young

When I was young lad of 8 (about 6 years ago) I went into the music store and bought this Album becouse of the pure awesomeness of White wedding. I only heard it once on the radio but I knew I had to own it. When I got home with the CD I was suprised at how good the other songs were. If you like rock or peaple with blond hair you will like this album.
