iTunes Review

Judging by Crazy Love, this Christian punk-pop group is working its way though adolescent angst towards something like a mature perspective. In the process, the band is also making its faith more explicit (though no one would accuse them of sounding like, say, Casting Crowns yet). Crazy Love’s title track is a defiant believer’s anthem in the tradition of DC Talk’s “Jesus Freak,” acknowledging that “the world looks at us like we’re ridiculous.” God’s presence also shines upon the throbbing, synthesizer-drenched “Your Love Is a Mystery” and the thrashing yet prayerful “Skeleton.” Balancing such testimonies are romantic complaints (“Joanna”) and skewed character sketches (“Fraud”) very much in the style of Hawk Nelson’s earlier offerings. Singer Jason Dunn remains adept at offering positive sentiments while retaining his nervous edge — “We Can Change the World” and “Thanks for the Beautiful Memories” leave a warm glow after the last biting riff has faded into the ether. Still frantic but more thoughtful, Hawk Nelson gives evidence on Crazy Love of musical staying power.

Midnight rock out!

I waited till midnight to get this CD. Did you? I am a Hawk Nelson fan for life! I have not even heard all the songs yet. But I am sure that it's totally AWESOME!!! I love you HAWK NELSON!! <3 You're number one fan, ME! :)

<3

Songs you can rock, dance, and (more importantly) relate to...what more could you ask for?<3(:

i have to say..

Mmmmmm i love Hawk Nelson and iv seen them live at least ten times and iv been a fan since their first cd. Personally it seems to me that this cd tho, the music just isnt what it use to be. The lyrics seem to be so straight forward and it just doesnt seem like theres much lyrical thought. The fast songs, im just bored or uninteresed. I did like the last album 3D but even still the amount of songs i really like or that i could listen to over and over were very few. Im not saying its a bad thing to grow and expand your music because thats what it is about, but its just not close enough or not up beat enough compared to the first two albums they released. Im still a fan and it is also good to see a christian pop rock band that hasnt sold out to just straight praise and worship music because that is just annoying. Nevertheless could of been so much more amazing but they went more praise and worship. I just hope that on the next cd its more fun and also has some feeling or rage in it, lyrics are more thought out and maybe makes a bold statement. There needs to be a christian band that doesnt just target a christian audience. so my revies? this album is not horrible, but back to basics with some expanding is what i would love to hear.
