iTunes Review

Since Radiohead evolved into one of the few bands of the 1990s and 2000s to use the album as a cohesive artistic statement — each album defining a particular style and approach — a “Greatest Hits” collection may seem to be a slightly perverted way to capture the group. They did, however, issue strong singles. The minor-chord dirge “Creep” from their 1993 debut album Pablo Honey established their pop potential early and with the heart-stopping “Fake Plastic Trees” and the sublime “High and Dry” expanding their range for their second album, 1995’s The Bends, Radiohead were poised to become one of “alternative” rock’s most radio-friendly groups. However, their artistic ambitions demanded they chase more adventurous tones and the challenging puzzles from 1997’s OK Computer (“Paranoid Android,” “Karma Police”) and the further abstract compositions from 2000’s Kid A (Idioteque”) and 2003’s Hail to the Thief (“2+2=5”) showcase a band constantly evolving with technology. This overview throws out chronology for an idiosyncratic pacing of its own. The limited edition version includes 13 extra cuts with the b-side “Talk Show Host” (that also appeared on the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack) being the one relative obscurity.

Not true representation

All Radiohead albums are supposed to be listened too in their entirety, not one song from one album and then another - this really dilutes the Radiohead experience IMO.

Good Stuff, through and through

I hate to be the bearer of bad news to all you 'true' Radiohead fans, but I doubt this is about money when you're telling people to go out and buy all of Radioheads albums instead of one CD. This is a good starting point for newbs to decide if the band is even for them.
This is good stuff. Don't denounce the CD because of some "true Radiohead fan" bull. The corporations have already made a ****load off of you anyway if you insist on buying every album.

I just wish this had "Like Spinning Plates."

Radiohead not 'Best-of' Band... But hey, this is still their music!

Hey people! We all know Capital decided to throw a bunch of Radiohead songs into a best-of albulm to make a bunch of money, but giving an albulm labeled under RADIOHEAD a low rating isn't gonna help them. I don't approve in ANY way of what capital did, but this is still our Radiohead! And really, this isn't a bad place for Newbies to the world of Radiohead to start! If your just starting to branch out of the world of simple pop/rock, this is a good place to start. But if you're already in love with music with uniqueness about it, and are just getting into radiohead, start with an albulm like, OK Computer, or their newest, In Rainbows. Very good starting grounds. Long live Radiohead!

Biography

Formed: 1989 in Oxford, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Radiohead was one of the few alternative bands of the early '90s to draw heavily from the grandiose arena rock that characterized U2's early albums. But the band internalized that epic sweep, turning it inside out to tell tortured, twisted tales of angst and alienation. Vocalist Thom Yorke's pained lyrics...
