iTunes Review
The unexpected triumph of Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul and Juicy J at the 2005 Oscars and the ubiquity of celebratory anthems like “Stay Fly” brought Memphis’ vibrant hip-hop scene some much-needed popular recognition. Project Pat's menacing flow and tongue-twisting lyricism have made him a standout member of Three 6 Mafia’s Hypnotized Minds clique. Crook By da Book: The Fed Story certainly contains enough giddily morbid lyricism, funereal tempos, and Willie Hutch-fueled hooks to satisfy any diehard fan, but Pat’s album is distinguished from the common run of Hypnotized Minds releases by his mind-numbingly formidable cadences. Where other Memphis MCs might be content to simply flow over Juicy J’s sinister production work, Project Pat’s hallucinatory rhymes and relentlessly fluid cadences provide the perfect counterpoint to Juicy J’s icy synths. The combination of these two talents produces some incredible moments; the hypnotic chants of “I Ain’t Going Back to Jail” and the eerie Spaghetti Western whistles of “Crack a Head” take the bleak aesthetics of Memphis hip-hop to previously unimagined heights.

The Much Needed Return Of Project Da Patsta!
An A++ album that just show’s: Project’s BACK! This is a REALLY REALLY great album! (Although I’ve been a fan of P.Pat for a long time!) This is classic Project Pat we’ve been missing for 4 years now (except for mixtape’s). This is his 1st real album in 4 years too (after his Fed. problem’s) and it really showcases his experience well. His flows are as usual masterfully rhymed and really have that “stick in your head” quality. It is a much needed addition to his already great collection. All of the songs are really well done except for the women’s annoying hook in “You Like” (#11) and the intro and hook in “Tell Tell Tell” (#7). I may have been expecting too much in “Tell Tell Tell” because it features Young Jeezy and Mr. Bigg. They are great additions and should have been featured more. Beanie Sigel in “Purple” (#3) is great and one of my favorite songs on the album. It was surprising that members of the Hypnotize Minds crew were only featured in 3 songs, but was a nice choice to showcase how good Pat is by himself. They are usually in a lot more of his songs at some point, but that’s just what they do, and it works. Juicy J. and D.J. Paul produced it really well also. Overall, everyone that likes this genre should check out this great album!
project pat is dope
anything he makes is basically the best
It's about time!
Well, it's been years upon years that I've been waiting for today, December 5th. I started getting into Project Pat back in 1999-2000. When I started hearing his stuff I found myself wanting more and more. Unfortunately, in 2001 he was arrested and locked up. Layin' Da Smack Down was his last album which was released in 2002. When I heard Pat was getting out of jail in either 2004 or 2005, I was like alright cool he should have an album out soon. This album has been in the making for years. Goog Googly Moogly and Raised in the Projects are the two singles that have been around for awhile now. Heraing those 2 tracks I knew we were in for a classic when "Crook By Da Book" would be released. It seemed like I'd read online about the album "Coming Soon" but it never came. It wasn't until last week that I was on the Hypnotize Minds myspace and it said December 5th is the day. I have had a chance to listen to all the songs. At first I was skeptical of Pat possibly going soft or "mainstream" even since his incarceration. If you are looking for Mainstream this is not it. I love the Underground style, Dirty South music, and this is what Pat gives you every time. This album is amazing from top to bottom. My favorites in this order. 1. Tell Tell Tell (Stop Snitchin') 2. Raised In The Projects 3. You Like 4. Crack A Head 5. Good Googly Moogly 6. I Ain't Goin Back to Jail 7. How It Goes In The Gutta 8. High Off The Ground 9. Purple 10. Cocaine I could keep listing them, but you get my point. I have Cocaine at #10, but it's easily good enough to be in the Top 3. That's how good this whole album is. I'm amazed. Welcome back Pat! 10/10. Hopefully iTunes will get the rest of the songs soon because you won't want to miss them.
