On the strength of the hit duet with Aaron Neville, "Don't Know Much," Cry Like a Rainstorm — Howl Like the Wind returned Linda Ronstadt to the top of the charts. The album was a collection of well-constructed adult contemporary pop, which suits her voice better than the traditional pop she recorded during the mid-'80s. Musically, Cry Like a Rainstorm isn't as adventurous as Canciones de Mi Padre, nor is it as consistent as Trio, the album she recorded with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton, but it is her most satisfying mainstream pop album she has made since the late '70s.

Fantastic
This is a great album.... Linda never sounded so good...I love most of the songs on this album, however, the Brian Wilson background harmonies on Adios are worth the price of admission... It is a great Jimmy Web song with Brian Wilson magic... Does it get any better than that?
I had forgotten this album
I had bought this album (cd) back when it came out and it was a favorite of mine then. I just thought of the song "Shattered" today and remembered how great the whole cd is. The songs are simple and beautiful. Nothing schmalzy, just good old fashioned pop. The duets with Aaron Neville are one of the many high points. My personal fave's are "Shattered", "Adios" and "Goodbye My Friend", ok so I'm a sucker for a sad ballad. Give it a try, don't think you'll be disappointed.
