Album Review

Crystal Gayle's Greatest Hits, originally issued in 1983 at the conclusion of the country-pop singer's tenure with Columbia Records, was one of her definitive best-of collections for many years. It includes all her key hits for Columbia, most notably "Half the Way," "If You Ever Change Your Mind," "It's Like We Never Said Goodbye," and "Too Many Lovers" (all number ones), as well as "You Never Gave Up on Me," "Livin' in These Troubled Times," "Woman in Me," and "The Blue Side" (all Top Tens). Crystal Gayle's Greatest Hits was eventually supplanted in the CD age by subsequent compilations of remastered Columbia material courtesy of Sony, the major label with ownership of these recordings. Most notably, the Super Hits collection released by Columbia in 1998 features the same songs and does so with better sound quality.

The Ultimate Crystal Gayle Collection

I found the best of the best of her music in this album. This is a must have collection for those of us who are forever dyed in the wool Crystal Gayle fans. There will never be a voice like hers, tho there have been many who have come and gone throughout the years. Crystal Gayle set a standard in music that will not ever pass this way again.
