Scarlatti
I think Michael Lewin is fabulous! It is incredible to listen to his piano playing. It makes me wish I had continued my lessons... :-) I highly recommend anything by him. He is quite reknown, and all praise is well-deserved.
Shame
Wondering how Naxos could ask such an "artist" to record such a great composer. Shame for both. Of course, if you love weird accents, no brain playing, abused musical phrases and a stupid understanding of this simple but yet difficult music, buy it! There's no sense throughout of phrasing, quality of sound or musical understanding. Lewin proves for one more time that he is a clown with no respect for the composer, music and himself. Such a failure, only him could achieve. PS. For the reviewer who claims that I don't say WHY Lewin is horrible, I suggest to read again my review. And for the ones who want GOOD music and GREAT representation of Scarlatti, try Tipo, di Bonaventura, or Kirpatrick! The purpose of the reviews is for each one to give his comments, my comments are all over the internet and I praise the good, I trash the bad (like Lewin), I take my time and write what I think.
