Album Review
You think disco was nothing more than assembly line funk and freeze-dried beats? Then you need to step into the crisp grooves and walloping boogie found on this stunning collection of Chic's '70s recordings. Such hits as "Good Times," "Dance Dance Dance," and "Le Freak" used the stylistic innovations of James Brown and Sly Stone as a blueprint for a new era of funk. Bernard Edwards' basslines are so provocative they seem to talk, while Nile Rodgers' skeletal guitar runs hark back to Steve Cropper's slashing style. Sure, the songs don't say much. Sure, the dance mixes collected here ramble on after about six minutes. But once you step into these grooves — grooves that influenced an entire generation of artists from David Byrne to Prince — you will realize that these were indeed good times.

Dance, Dance, Dance - CHIC
These are the dance songs I grew up with in the late 70's. Disco was in, and dance moves were falmbouyantly demontrated on the dance floor. The rythym and beat of CHIC compells you to tap your toes and dance to the beat. CHIC is one of my favorite music Artists of all time. I highly recommend it.
The Best of Chic
I recently started downloading music through itunes. I feel like I'm in a candy shop and music such as Chic that I grew up with just reminds me of a time when the world was so much better and people celebrated the music not the artist. If you have kids, give them the gift of listening to some real music that has a strong, good, positive message from love to celebrating life inspite of ...
Ode of Disco Era
The 60s were a full cultural plate. Young and eager, discotheque was elegant and hedonistic by 1968. It was the rage. By the time Good Times hit people discode in Paris the same as Negril. The songs were anthems and as such were universal. Good Times as the name implies were chic and universal -- une credo passional! If the music was "right" you didn't need any other.
