Buying Citadel backwards :)
by Indie HunterSo I bought D'ANthologie 2 first and love it and figured I would try D'ANthologie 1. I already prepared myself that they would probably be quite different from each other because Citadel is all over the map stylewise. Still, I wasn't prepared enough I guess. Holy smokes this band is incredible! Again, the songs are unique, the playing is articulate and the mix of styles, even inside of a single song, is exactly what I love about classic and progressive rock. If D'AN 2 is like the thrill of a wild amuzement ride, then I'd say D'AN 1 is like the thrill of your favorite arcade game. I got the CD and then also found them on Facebook and Twitter as 'citadelband' This is a for sure treasure if you like soft/loud, fast/slow changes and great vocals, leads and insturmental prowess.

Since I’m on the band’s uber-private emailing list, I was able to purchase on the hand-signed, embossed POD (DIY) CD-R versions of this fantastic CD – soon those editions will be sold out (if they aren’t already) from CDBaby and the CD-ROM versions (DiscMakers-type) will take their place – but – buy the downloads here and you can get the full liner notes/lyrics/etc. from the the album’s page (cdbaby.com/cd/citadel4) on CDBaby!
I really like the band’s idea to make the song titles reflect the song style – another Citadel first! So, I don’t have to tell you here about each song style! What I will tell you is that this CD is a CLASSIC!
The ‘new’ tunes are Hard Rock Sermon, Heavy Metal IIIWW, Psych Folk RUaWear, Classic Rock Life, Prog Folk Reaching – proving the ‘anti-genre’ Citadel still can’t commit to just one musical style (the reason I love them!)
The new recordings of previously released hits like Progressive Rock Dungeons, Symphonic Rock LOTR, Electric Folk Standing, Prog Metal SOS and Psychedelic Rock Prey – show that a good song can be played more than one way (Drummer Dan Is A Top Notch Pounder!)
Being that this is the first of a series of Citadel CD’s with Dan on Skins, I can’t wait for the next installment. All of these tunes are inspiring, exciting, unique and well executed. Again, I have to give this Citadel CD top ratings and I encourage all of you ‘seekers’ to discover just what you’ve been missing. Pick your favorite ‘genre’ using the song title – spend that .99 to download it and just try to wear it out – I dare ya! Luvz and grins! Proggirl.
