A huge improvement

If this had to be the last then I am glad it was like this, I turn in direction that I think is way better than what I thought they would become after hearing chamber music. I love Dez's voice it is very unique to him, I don't know anyone else who sounds like him at all. I wish they would reunite though so I could see them live, but that will definitely never happen. Good times and good songs.

Amazing

My favorite Coal Chamber album. In my opinion, it is darker and more raw and in your face more than the others. This is definitely Dez at his best. Best tracks are SOMETHING TOLD ME, Glow, Alienate Me, and Fiend. Great album.

Not my favorite of theirs, but still decent.

One thing you have to take notice of with coal chamber is that each of the albums have had a different feel to them. The debut LP was an album that was fairly simplistic and raw, without any bells and whistles added to it, while Chamber Music was much the opposite, with all of it's dark melodies and keyboards, and then lastly we get to Dark Days, which is a deliberate attempt to distance itself from the mainstream of Nu Metal, featuring less catchy chorus lines and stuff like that. The approach here is mostly just a "hit em hard, no regrets" type of attitude. Dez has by now dropped all of his clean vocals in favor of rough growling and low register howls, and the rich atmospheric textures of Chamber Music are a thing of the past as well. The result is an album that is just as Dark as it's predecessor, but also much more like the self titled in the fact that it's failry minimalist and simplified in comparison. However, one cannot deny that there is a bit of a lack of drive on this album, but I think that this can be attributed to the ridiculous amount of tension that was growing between the members of the band at this time. It sounds like a last album, there's just no way to get around it. So to sum it all up, it's likely a tad rough on the ears for most, especially for newbies, but if you liked the previous two installments in the Coal Chamber trilogy, you'll dig this one as well.
