Darkness Of Pleasure
The album tackles different styles, all within a dark, moody, and sensual template. It’s a focused effort that dabbles in different genres to get its message of sexualized gothic-style beauty across to the listener. The album opens with a few dance pop tracks, in the style of Lady Gaga or Madonna, and then goes into a slew of techno style jams, some with industrial rock elements, and others using a more avant garde, eclectic aesthetic. The final two tracks differ, in they are both less electronic than the rest of the album, (the closing track being almost completely without synth, while track 9 has hip hop influence in it). The album handles these style changes well, typically not going overboard with any one style, but rather focusing on meshing them into a sound of its own. At times you might not even notice the influences as they are occasionally integrated so well with other styles that they evolve into a completely different style of their own. Though the album is not lyric heavy, and the featured singers change from track to track, it is still a cohesive and coherent effort, with plenty of appeal to anyone who was a wide range of tastes. Commercial pop, to house, to rock, it offers something for everyone.
Literate, steamy, and gothic
This is music that is a lot more exciting to listen to than most dance music I hear. The themes and stories go beyond the usual "let's party" or "I want you so bad," to explore ideas and themes found in horror and erotica.
This album creates a world of witches, vampires, demons, and murderous mistresses, then invites you to explore it in a twisted, sexy, high-energy fashion.
I've listened to it during my workouts all week, and hear something new every time.
I admit, I picked up this album because Mitch Branson is hot. But I keep listening to it because his music is fascinating.
The Right Mix of Spice and Sugar!
This CD is fresh, fun and sexy. I love listening to it when I am getting stuff done around the house or driving fast in my car. It has an erotic in your faces story sprinkled with dark sounds, and subtle guitar riffs, yet is also peppered with fun and playful beats. The result album is an enjoyable musical experience that is not to dark nor to light. I like my music with some edge but not so much that I am bleeding out with an over abundance of severe and foreboding sounds. I have listened to this album over and over again and enjoy the fresh combination of an epic tone while simultaneously being fun and playful. It puts me in the right dimension creating a conduit to keep me motivated and moving in my busy life. Great job Mitch!
