Album Review
While greatest-hits albums from jazz artists are sometimes dubious propositions, Dave Brubeck is the rare exception to the rule. Brubeck concentrated on the song as much as the performance, which is one of the reasons why he appealed to such a wide audience and it's also the reason why Greatest Hits is such an entertaining and effective sampler. Featuring such familiar items as "Take Five," "In Your Own Sweet Way," "The Duke," "Trolley Song," "Unsquare Dance," and "Blue Rondo à la Turk," the collection provides a fine introduction to Brubeck's collegiate jazz for the uninitiated. Time Out remains the best place to start a Brubeck appreciation, but this is an excellent single-disc sampler.

Dave Brubeck's Greatest Hits
One of the my favorite albums of all time.Great for kickin back and relaxing This album is must have.Sounds as fresh now as it dd 20 years ago for me.Most people have heard Take Five ,but give the rest of the album a chance.The album is a true classic and a must buy for any music lover.
Awesome album!!!
This almum is auesome!!! Dave Brubeck Quartet is great. Paul Desmond is an outstanding sax player! (Esp. in Take 5) We need more jazz like this and not all this new age jazz.
Good Ol' Jazz
I didn't know that's Take Five!!! I use to hum that little tune. I visited my relatives up in Boston and we went to the Newport Jazz Festival. They had Joshua Redman (Dad's Favorite), Zap Mama (Really Amazing in Performance), Branford Marsalis, The Brubeck Quartet, and Dave Brubeck himself (and more, but these stood out to me). He started out with Tango (I think he was warming up) and played Take Five, Unsquare Dance, I think Blue Rondo a la Turk, and at the end he played Take Five. It's amazing at the age 90 he still has a lot of passion. He skill and playing never aged. Even though I don't really know him I could tell. His son played the drums (since their drummer had surgery and is fine now, but the doctor wouldn't let him play) and you could tell Dave was very proud of his son and had a lot of fun on stage. They truely love playing music. I am definetly going to get this CD at the store, but I bet he played better live. Jazz is really something different.
