2009 Press Quotes:

Gina Villalobos' compositions are not so simple, coming off the speakers like holographic cracker jack surprises that reveal a new depth with the slightest shift in light. Days On Their Side (Face West Records) finds her taking on the Lucinda Williams/ Sheryl Crow model to a new level (And it's about time someone did.) AMERICAN SONGWRITER "...Villalobos' melodies remind one of the best Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, and John Mellencamp. She often slowly builds the intensity of a song in an almost cinematic manner, setting a mood, introducing a plot, then moving in for the emotional kill." VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE

"Days On Their Side" is AMAZING

I stumbled upon this selection quite by accident while looking for some new artists and genres of music. Although the preview of each song sounded promising, I was completely surprised by the album.

Gina's songwriting is original, interesting, and smart. Her arrangements have snap, yet are subtle at the same time. "Mortified" and "Pictures of Pictures" are nothing short of genius...but there are a wealth of options and stark tracks throughout. It is a complete album, and a very unexpected listening pleasure.
