It's Not The Original...

If anyone clicked on the Dead Bands Party, then either you clicked it by mistake, or you actually liked Oingo Boingo. and anyone who went to the reviews to rate mine, is NOT here by mistake, strangely enough. Fans of Oingo Boingo have an.. interesting feel for music. Oingo Boingo was always a band you had to of had some type of weird taste for, or be open minded. The reason people are rating this so low is because it isnt the original, but 'Original' kind of contradicts 'Tribute', so lets be open minded about all of this, shall we? The bands chosen for the tribute were definitely worthy of it. Weird bands like The Matches (with) Zebrahead , The Aquabats, and Reel Big Fish definitely show off the Oingo Boingo flare. To be perfectly honest, I was a bit disapointed with the Weird Science revision, its not that Hellogoodbye didnt do a good job, its just that it seems like that song would be better suited for a band like The Matches. And speaking of which, the only song on here that i think was BETTER that the original was Violent Love. Kudos to Zebrahead and The Matches -Jamie

Not the originals, get over it.

Of COURSE these songs aren't going to sound like the originals. It's a TRIBUTE album, not a full on cover album. I, for one, love the approach to these songs and think that the artists behind them did an excellent job putting their own spin on Boingo staples. Go buy a "best of" album if you want "the originals".

A true celebration and tribute

This is a great album; not for a starting Oingo Boingo fan, but a must have for hardcore Boingo fans. This is a tribute, so don't get this album looking for the original Oingo Boingo sound. I like this album a lot, because it's really different from Oingo Boingo, but they're the same songs. Danny Elfman and Steve Bartek have written some of the best songs ever, and I think this album is a lot of fun because they took the already awesome songs and incorperated their own sound in their covers. (The exception being the Aquabats cover of "The Controller", because at the time of recording they sounded exactly like Oingo Boingo anyway. :P) I don't even care for some of the bands on this album (Hellogoodbye, Plain White T's Suburban Legends is ok....) but I really like all of these songs. A must have for hardcore Oingo Boingo fans like me that want as much Boingo as they can get, even if it's not really even them! :D
