Reseña de álbum

For the Devil Wears Prada's fourth album, Dead Throne, the Christian metalcore six-piece is at its most technical and most brutal. Mike Hranica is a vocal beast, alternating between banshee screams and a Cookie Monster growl, while the rest of the members deliver muscular drop-D power chords, bottom-heavy bass riffs, and ferocious drumming. Sonically, the tone is equally massive. New producer Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage, Times of Grace) intensifies things by crushing the frequencies to a damaged maximum. Then, the producer of the group’s back catalog, Joey Sturgis, was brought back on board to emphasize James Baney's spine-chilling keyboard orchestration and add some digital touches in the way of vocal effects and choppy ambient sound bursts. Ultimately, Dead Throne is a multi-segmented 40-minute detonation. The songs are shorter and easier to differentiate than on earlier outings, but still run together — as they commonly do in technical metalcore and European symphonic metal. Segments are marked by a heavy breakdown, a burst of shredding, a sudden tempo shift, or a switch to the main melodic component, Jeremy DePoyster’s emo-inflected voice. As a bonus, As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis makes a guest appearance and roars back and forth with Hranica on “Constance,” one of Dead Throne's most powerful moments. But then again, picking a highlight is futile when an album is this merciless.

perfect

after being a twdp fan for the last 7 years i can honestly say this is the culmination of all their musical talent, passion, intellect, wisdom, and faith. This album will define a generation and genre, i thank God i can hear these artists create art. it's that good

btw first

Not the same

I want to say I'm writing this from a purely personal opinion perspective, and my personal opinion is that this album doesn't quite live up to my expectations. Its not that TDWP has headed a new musical that I don't like, or that its lighter or heavier then I would like, its just not as powerful to me. Something in it just isn't as emotional as With Roots Above was, and its not quite as instrumentally impressive as Plagues was, and its not near as original as Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord was, (and it sure isn't as heavy as Zombie EP was). Its still an incredible album compared to the other bands within TDWP's genre, but I just find it falling a little short then what I had hoped for.

TDWP, I've been a fan since your humble Cornerstone beginnings, and I continue to be a huge fan of you guys and what you stand for. But in all the areas of music that I've always believed to be the most important, (passion, originality, and impressive musicianship), you've done better in the past. But regardless, I'll still always be supporting you,
Sincerely, a loyal fan.

Oh my god! :D :D

My boys matured so much!!!. Incorporates everything that made with roots great and the Zombie EP's mature sound to an excellent metalcore release. Pick it up if you wanna hear incredible music.

PS: BUY MAMMOTH!!!!!! :)

Mystifyingly taking their name from a popular chick lit bestseller, the Devil Wears Prada is easily one of the most bizarrely named bands of their time. Since the group is a Christian metalcore act from Dayton, Ohio, one assumes that the band name was chosen not because the sextet is a foe of former Vogue editor Anna Wintour, but metaphorically, as in "the devil is a deceptively appealing figure." The Devil Wears Prada formed in 2005, consisting of singer and lyricist Mike Hranica (who handles the...
