Joey
Good effort. Excellent vocals but production quality could have been better. Guitar sound is very thin and drums are heavy. Joey still sounds great. He is Anthrax!!!!! There was no one better.
For an indie release, this is really good!
Although my opinion may be considered biased as I have enjoyed Joey's contributions to Anthrax and his prior solo work, I think the songwriting actually tops some of his prior solo output. It would be unfair to compare this to the fully produced Anthrax albums he's been on, but I would go as far to say that there are some hooks and melodies that rival some of the Anthrax material. This is a really good listen, a well-balanced collection. If you're starving for some Joey tunes before we get the reworked Anthrax album in the next year or so (with Joey back in the fold after Dan Nelson came and went, and John Bush decided not to participate after some brief touring with the band), this will definitely fill the gap! This record was already done before Joey was invited back into Anthrax, so it wasn't some rush job to capitalize on his returning to the band... if you're a Joey-era fan of Anthrax, I think you'll enjoy this.
