Outstanding electro-industrial in the classic vein.
If, like me, you tire of the modern "industrial" scene which consists of sound alike bands all trying to ape that neo-gothic-waify vocal-synthpop-new new wave-vibe, Spetsnaz is a wonderful revisitation of what old-school industrial/EBM used to be like back in the 1980s. Easily one of the best modern acts of this sort, and this album just keeps proving it. I've heard criticism that they sound too much like old-school Nitzer Ebb, but as far as I'm concerned, in this day and age, that's as beautiful a compliment as an EBM band could get.
GRAB A HAMMER AND POUND AWAY... ON SOMEONES HEAD.
GOSH I REMEMBER WHEN INDUSTRIAL REQUIRED COMBAT BOOTS. AND THIS BAND WAS WHY. SEE KIDS THIS IS TRUE INDUSTRIAL. BACK THEN WE STOMPED OUR WAY RIGHT OUTTA SOCIETY. WE WERE PISSED!! WE SHOULD BE PISSED TODAY. AND THIS MUSIC IS A REFLECTION OF OUR TIMES IF EVER. SIMPLE AND UNDERGROUND, MORE THAN THEN STUPID FASION THIS ONES FOR THE WORKING CLASS INDUSTRIAL HEAD. ENJOY!!!!
A breath of fresh air
In an age when EBM has become choked with club-friendly acts incapable of writing a bassline that consists of anything more than two notes repeated ad nauseum, Spetnaz is a real breath of fresh air. Retro? Absolutely. Minimalist? Sure. But they write songs where the notes actually matter instead of just being some endlessly looped drone meant to put your mind to sleep in some techno-club trance for minute after redundant minute. Great stuff.
