wow!
brilliantly crafted songs with that ever-enticing pop hook. smart lyrics, great voices, and strong musicianship make this a better alt rock album than most i've heard in recent years. i can tell i'm going to wear out the grooves on this one.
Punk/Pop/Rock on
Almost every song is an earworm - the one you just can't get out of your head for days. I find myself repeating the melodies on the bus, in the shower and when I'm trying to catch those zzz's at night...punk, pop, rock, why are we fighting? It's just great sound. And does it hurt that Colin is such a hottie? I think not.
Great Album
I stumbled upon the Ex-Boyfriends' website a while back, and downloaded a few of their songs. I was very pleased with what I heard, but since I didn't live in the Bay Area couldn't hear anything more. I'm so happy that they are receiving the good attention. The album is just plain good rock music, it's not exactly the most revolutionary by any means, but it's simply enjoyable to listen to. It's nice to hear a homosexual band that isn't pop oriented; I love those artists, but this is a refreshing change. I would say this album is very accessible to anyone, gay or straight. The only bad thing I can say about this album is that it doesn't include my favorite song by the Ex-BFs, Breathe Without Breaking, so I was glad to pick that up off the website when it was up. I definately recommend this album to just about anyone!
