iTunes Review

In 1991 Slayer was at the peak of its powers. Of the original “Big Four” of thrash — the others being Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax — Slayer had proved themselves as the heaviest. They were at the end of one of the most astounding five-album runs in the history of heavy metal, and their concerts had become rallies for the most discerning, diehard metal fans. The fervency of the Slayer live experience is captured on Decade of Aggression. Recorded over a series of dates in 1991 (the first disc comes entirely from a show at Florida’s Lakeland Coliseum, while the second disc is split between concerts in San Bernardino and London), each of these songs has the impact of a nuclear bomb. The first five cuts alone are enough to flatten the listener. Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman do an astonishing job of replicating their lightning-speed riffs with the utmost precision. Even so, these live recordings display a vitality and spontaneity that surpasses the band’s finest recorded moments. As a display of supernatural stamina and relentless aggression, Decade of Aggression is unmatched by any live rock album.

Customer Reviews

Raining Blood is not Slayer's only song "Guitar Heroes"

For all you guitar hero songs that are only getting Raining Blood you should Die By the Sword and Face The Slayer. I'm tired of gh getting one song by a band popular and everyone thinks the band is so amazing for one song. Same thing happned to Metallica and Megadeth, 2 other great thrash bands. Metallica put in One and Megadeth put in Hangar 18, fans know those arn't their best songs. "Guitar Heroes" do yourself a favor, get the whole thing, RB is not their best song even though its darn good. As for the album, very good live thrash album. Has most of the greats from their first 5 albums. Although I wish the songs Criminaly Insane and Metal Storm/Face the Slayer would get more atention and have been played on this album

Pretty Much The Best Live Album Out There

'nuff said slayer rocks my f***in socks

One of the better live metal albums

It's a 3-1/2 star album, but I'll give it 5 to counteract that idiotic 1 star "review". Further evidence that you should have to pass some kind of test to post these things.

Biography

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Slayer were one of the most distinctive, influential, and extreme thrash metal bands of the 1980s. Their graphic lyrics deal with everything from death and dismemberment to war and the horrors of hell. Their full-throttle velocity, wildly chaotic guitar solos, and powerful musical chops paint an effectively chilling sonic background for their obsessive chronicling of the dark side; this correspondence has helped Slayer's music hold up arguably better than the remaining Big Three '80s thrash outfits...
