Hidden Gem
This album features a very "green" Ronnie Earl in terms of his recording career and it shows. I mean this in the most positive sense.He plays with a rawness and a sense of urgency that only comes from an artists once in a career. On most cuts he is teamed with Sugar Ray Norcia who was gigging with Earl at the time of this recording.This album captures completly the feel of their live performaces with Norcia as beautifully green and intense as Earl in his singing and harp playing. For anyone who never witnessed the kismet of these two artists onstage together, this is as close as it gets.Prime cuts are "You give me nothing but the blues" and "Narcolepsy" on which you can alternately experience both the rawness and polish of the Broadcasters at this time. Devastating!
Ronnie Earl and Kim Wilson - what a combo!!!
Man, you just can't go wrong with these two. Kim Wilson has a great voice and the man can play some serious harp as well. As for Ronnie, this is an earlier recording and he sounds red-hot even back then. Buy it! Peace.
I Keep Coming Back To This One Many Years Now!
This is one of my favorite CD's bar none, great that itunes has it. I love Ronnie Earl and the lineup here is so strong. Ronnie's tone is amazing, his phrasing, his feel, dynamics..really worth more attention. Deep Blues stands the test of time. There are so many great tracks here, go for it.
