An interesting and perplexing choice for a single, but so relevant for today's digital times. Outstanding adaptation of an already outstanding song.
Deeper Understanding
The remake of Kates song is interesting but I like the original song better. I get the whole computer voice thing on the chorus of the song to support the theme of the song, but its too distracting from the melody. I think the computerized "bleeps" and "glitches" throughout the song were a mistake. They take away from the songs lush instrumentation. The harmonica however was an interesting add on towards the end of the song. However I still think the original version of this song is much better. On a positive note, I'm glad to see Kate working her magic again.

I loved the original DU – but I find this new version compelling in its own ways; the new vocals, the addition of the computer voice – and an amazing riff at the end, this song isn’t just an update, it’s a revisit to an old friend. I am especially enjoying trying to guess Kate’s creative process in this – and I suspect that will be the game to be played whilst listening to all of The Director’s Cut. Sounds like fun, sign me up. Thanks Kate for this gift.
