Very Impressed!
I'd heard Joshua Messick's music before so I was prepared to be impressed but this latest collection of songs blew me away. Fresh and inspiring, these songs will become a permanent part of your collection!
Best musical discovery!!
Why hadn't I heard of this guy before? This album took me completely by surprise! A mix of world, new age, middle-eastern, and classic, it all goes down on my list of favorites. I'm in love with the title track, Innocence Lament (!!), Zephyr, Expeditious...I've listened to these for a week straight and still can't get enough! Thank you iTunes recommendations!
Impressive and Powerful
Joshua Messick's first CD is a tribute to classical inspiration, so I was expecting more along those lines, but what I found instead is a collection of original compositions immersed in powerful rhythms and building, sweeping instrumentation. I felt like it should be the soundtrack to Lord of the Rings or similar. The way he has mastered this instrument - hands down, best dulcimer player I have ever heard or believe I will. He really owns his craft and the arrangement of other instruments to perfectly supplement the dulcimer creates songs that span time and place. For an album with a wide range of world flavors, this is epic.
