Album Review

`The Best of Missing Persons was the band's first retrospective, and unlike the later, single-oriented comps, it draws a broader picture of the Los Angeles new wave act's three albums and one EP. It includes the hit singles — "Words," "Walking in L.A.," the classic "Destination Unknown" — as well as a clutch of album cuts ranging from decent to tiresome. Dale Bozzio's nasally hiccup can get very grating, after all. Nevertheless, it was as much a part of Missing Persons' sound as were the prominent keyboards and bopping guitar lines, and all three elements are alive and well on Best of Missing Persons. Get out the sparkly eye shadow and interplanetary plastic brassieres.

Awesomly sad

I love the missing person, they bring me back to the good old days when i had friends. now my only friends are heroin, meth and booze. Sometime i make little people out of playdough so i feel like people are with me. Anyways the Missing persons are great. they make me feel like going outside again, but lord knows that wont happen

Good Album! Where are the videos?

Okay...what is with iTunes? Where the heck are all of the great videos from the 80's? Let's be honest...the music of the 80's was fun...but the videos were what launched the majority of 80's bands! MTV was just getting started and I remember it constantly playing at our house! Missing Persons is a prime example, though. Their music was very good...don't get me wrong...but where are the great videos? If you agree...please check "yes"!

Fun New Wave

OK, it's not like they were going to be the be-all-end-all of Pop or change anything.. but The Missing Persons made some of the most fun new wave in LA back in the early 80s.

Cool thing is that 25 years later, it's still just as fun and catchy. And no one could deliver a line like "I think I'll dye my hair blue" like Dale Bozzio.

Formed: 1980 in Los Angeles, CA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s

Famed as much for their video-ready space-age image as for their music, the Los Angeles-based New Wave outfit Missing Persons formed in 1980, a year after the marriage of singer Dale Bozzio and her drummer husband Terry. A onetime member of Frank Zappa's backing band, Terry Bozzio met the former Dale Consalvi (an ex-Playboy Bunny) at a Hollywood recording studio; after founding Missing Persons — initially dubbed U.S. Drag — the couple recruited fellow Zappa...
