iTunes Review

Destiny’s Child’s final album is also the group’s most consistent effort. While there is nothing as definitive as the three hit singles from Survivor (its title track, “Independent Women” and “Bootylicious”), the group sounds more energized and confident than they did on any previous effort. Where past records engaged a production style that could be cutesy, Destiny Fulfilled wisely tilts toward hip-hop, a move aided, no doubt, by Beyonce’s burgeoning relationship with Jay-Z. Swizz Beats, Rodney Jerkins and Rich Harrison bring a sound that has no shortage of swagger — and having support from T.I. and Lil Wayne doesn’t hurt the group’s credibility. Beyonce’s breakout success is an unavoidable fact, but the group still creates an exceptional vocal blend, and Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams shine on “Bad Habit” and “If.” The title of Destiny’s Child’s final album isn’t a misnomer — even as Beyonce’s career eclipsed the group, they are shown here reaching their full potential.
