iTunes Review
Following up the multi-platinum success of Alive would be no cakewalk, but-figuring they had everyone's attention-Kiss pulled out a trump card for this one: a monster power ballad. Drummer Peter Criss's mild-mannered, romantic tune "Beth" was the perfect foil to the band's party-hearty bluster of Alive and it helped made Destroyer a worthy, if unexpected follow-up. Produced by Bob Ezrin, this album stands as Exhibit A for fans making the case that the leather-decked showmen were more than just goony thunder gods. Other key tracks: "Detroit Rock City," "Shout it Out Loud," "Do You Love Me?"

POWERHOUSE !!
by BlackDiamondBoyI bought this album as an LP when it was first released and wore out the needle on my turntable. I couldn't take my eyes off that album cover with four rock n' roll super heros. This is a strong record and includes tracks that still made the set list during the 2009 Alive 35 tour. Absolutely classic stuff. Two great tracks that are often overlooked are "Flaming Youth" and "Sweet Pain". The fans held their breath after Alive was released and Destroyer didn't let them down.My eleven year old kid is as blown away now by this record as I was thirty plus years ago. BUY IT !!
Great Album But Not Their Only Great Studio Effort
by KISS Fan '96I have to give this 5 stars. The album (as released originally) flows together well, especially side 2. Standout songs include: Detroit Rock City, Shout It Out Loud, Beth and Do You Love Me. Even Great Expectations is cool, very much in the Gene style of I like women.
Problem: It's a great but sometimes overated as KISS's only great album. KISS (1st album) and Creatures are just as good/vital to someone with a limited budget for their KISS collection. Some fans may be a bit turned off by the slick style of the album, it's not as raw KISS studio albums were from '74-77. Detroit Rock City on Double Platinum or Very Best of... is better to me because sometimes I want to get right to the song, however Gene talking as the news man is ok.
It is not as straight ahead as Rock and Roll Over or Love Gun but it is a very important album in KISS's catalog. It is KISS's biggest selling studio album ever, I won't debate that. Beth crossed over without selling out, Shout It Out Loud and DRC rocked and are played by the band in concert to this day. God of Thunder kept Gene tough and scary. Many bases were covered with this album.
Kiss to the max.
by NoSurprizeThe perfect compilation of Kiss songs in a down-to-earth but triple platinum album. It screams like a kick in the teeth, "BUY ME!!!!" XD
