Excellent Solo-Acoustic Singer/Songwriter

     

This album is unique mixture of powerful, lyrical originals (in the vain of Bob Dylan and Harry Chapin) and cover songs from the Delta Blues era i.e Come On In My Kitchen (Robert johnson, Crow Jane (Skip James), and Look Up Look Down That Lonesome Road. The original tracks are an eclectic mix of musically complex folk/blues--naive, but sincere, stories and revolutionary admonishments. The song January Winds, and The Old Man Song, often give me goosebumps and raise the hair on the back of my neck. Steve Johnson seems to have dropped off the face of the earth sense this albums release, and I am often amazed that his name has yet to appear anywhere in the mainstream. This artist is an enormous talent, and this will be obvious if you are fortunate enough to give him a listen.
