Album Review
Seals & Crofts' highest-charting album, Diamond Girl went up to number four on the strength of its Top Ten title cut and the follow-up, "We May Never Pass This Way (Again)." A well-produced collection of songs ranging from the personal to the spiritual, this LP captured the twosome in their commercial and artistic prime. "Ruby Jean and Billie Lee" is an attractive autobiographical ballad written to the duo's wives. "Nine Houses" and "Intone My Servant" invoke the religious faith which was so important to them that they would stay after concert performances to share it with those who cared to listen. "Standin' on a Mountain Top" is a flashback from their early-'60s days with the Champs, and "Dust on My Saddle" is a cowboy story also written by Seals in the '60s. Louie Shelton's production is impressive throughout, making Diamond Girl an appealing collection of radio-friendly '70s soft rock.

Required Listening
by Anonymous 57This album along with Summer Breeze should be required listening for anyone interested in the various musical themes of the 70's which represented a broad swath of musical tastes from rock and roll left over from the 60's to R&B, Motown, Disco (yipes) and softer folk artists like America, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Eagles, and of course, Seals and Crofts who didn't enjoy quite the same commercial success but live on in the memories of everyone who lived through and especially went to high school in the 70's.
YES, Jazz!
by THEONLYBestMusicExpertDiamond Girl and Wisdom were VERY jazzy cuts reminiscant of Steely Dan. The rest is good too!
Nine Houses
by ShiidonNine houses is one of my favorite songs of all. It represents the nine major religions in the World. The blending of East and West in the music and style helps to reinforce the theme of unity of all religion in the Baha'i Faith, the inspiration for many of their songs.
