WATERGRATE: clever, funny-tests your musicology

The snippets-of-music interview pieces are the best, and sometimes the music pieces are so short or hard to hear, your musicology will be tested. I have been looking for Dickie's novelty songs for a long time. I heard them on the radio in the 70s as a kid, and had no clue who did them, but found them cleaver, sometimes even insightful, and generally funny. They still hold up. Thanks iTStore for getting hard to find stuff like this too!

Finally !

So glad to finally find a CD copy of "Batman and His Grandmother." I rank it up there with the original and best "Flying Saucer" cuts. Does anyone know where he got the snipet of "Grandmother's" voice?

Important Correction

Both this album, Greatest Hits, and the All Time Novelty Hits, album, are comprised of the original recordings by Dickie Goodman. Of these two albums only the Greatest Hits album has a few recordings with a mix of original samples and cover versions; but even those recordings are the originals by Dickie Goodman. Attention was given to these two compilations to make sure the records are the originals and not follow up releases with covers. There are additional albums available here other than these two which are comprised of records with some original samples and mostly cover versions but even those are the original Dickie Goodman records as first released and they are not later versions where covers were thrown in. iTunes has the right stuff here.

Born on April 19, 1934, in Hewlett, NY, Goodman first came to the attention of the record-buying public in the '50s, when he scored a major hit with "The Flying Saucer," a song that nearly topped the U.S. pop charts (peaking at number three in 1956). As with all of Goodman's ensuing parodies, he used a then-unique method of sampling: he would...
