Prior to taking up Nashville tunesmithing, Jaron Lowenstein was one half of Evan & Jaron, a commercial pop duo (with his identical twin brother) that landed a Top 20 hit in 2000 with the Tal Bachman sounding tune “Crazy for This Girl.” And Evan & Jaron’s “The Distance” was featured on the soundtrack to the celebrated 2001 chick-flick Serendipity. After listening to Getting Dressed In the Dark, it’s quite refreshing to hear how many of Lowenstein’s twang-touched tunes have some bite to them. Musing on a relationship gone south, “I Hope You Hit Traffic” has him wishing that his ex will be stuck in highway congestion on the road trip that she takes alone to find herself. And the gospel-tinged “Pray for You” finds Lowenstein appealing to the good Lord with bad intentions for that same ex: “I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls/ I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls/ I pray all your dreams never come true/ Just know wherever you are honey, I pray for you.”

Not the usual Nashville fair
This guy is more like Michael Buble than Merle Haggard, but give him a shot, please? He's a really amazing lyricist with some beautiful melodies. My two personal favorites are "I Hope You Hit Traffic" because it's such a unique way to say "please come back to me"- a million and a half country artists have done it before, but not very many are this original- and of course "Pray For You", which is one of the most clever ways of saying "Eff You" out there. It's just this FRAN's opinion, but Jaron's got more soul than some Nashville pretty boys to come along in recent years. Even if you don't want the entire album, at least get "Pray For You" and "I Hope You Hit Traffic", just for the sheer awesomeness of the lyrics. But if you do get the album, promise you won't be disappointed, because just about anyone who has ever either been heartbroken or is searching for love can relate to it!
Original and pure vocals
I don't normally review music on line. However, upon reviewing this album and buying it. I have to say I am impressed by his style and vocial clarity. I love the lyrics and music. Buy this album you won't be sorry. Also, connect with him on facebook. It is one of the best artist facebook pages around!
New Country Artist on the Rise
I've been a fan of this band since they first came out with Pray For You, and although that song was great, it didn't do justice to the amazing songs they are coming out with on this album, that can be much more somber songs of love then the teasing hopes of an ex getting hurt. Petals Back on the Rose is a great song, and although I've only had the album for few hours, I've already started to sing along to some of the classics here. Great job Jaron and the Long Road to Love!
