Doug Clyde
This CD is a collection of orchestral works by Utah composers. Featuring songs by: Doug Clyde, James Koenig, Kelly Richardson, Steven Grames, Eric Kartchner, Laura Larsen Grames, and A.W. "Mickey" Hart. More than 3 years in the making, this album is finally available to the public. This album starts off with "Classical & Scores Suite" by Doug Clyde. A collection of 4 songs written for various local film projects, and contains the popular "PSYCHOBIRDS" theme. Then comes "Queen" for full orchestra and choir from James Koenig's "Chess Suite". This is considered by many as Koenig's masterwork. It is one of the most amazing fugues you'll ever hear! Following "Queen" comes "Dragonfly" from James Koenig's "Fairytales". Another extremely brilliant score by Koenig that you'll be humming all day. Next comes the fantastic "Battle of Shiloh" by Kelly Richardson, arguably Richardson's greatest work. It features behind the bridge scraping, which is very fun for the strings of any orchestra to play. After-wards, another amazing song by Richardson titled "Gaelic Warrior" which was written for a children's audio book, and could very well be the next Olympic Theme. "Chipmunks Go Punk" is a collection of brilliantly clever songs by Steven Grames, Eric Kartchner, and Laura Larsen Grames from the early 90's performed under the band name "Chipmunks Go Punk". Later, Steven and Eric performed under a new band called "Creaturehouse", which is the name of the next track that features a collection of dramatic and inspiring songs written by Steven Grames and Eric Kartchner in 2001 under that band name. "The Customer Is Always Right" is a medley of fun songs from a musical of the same name written by A.W. "Mickey" Hart and performed in the early 80's. It contains the well known "Piano Parlor Rag". "Three Musketeers Ape" is actually 2 songs written by Doug Clyde again for several local film projects. Which is also the case for "Jesu, Son Most Sweet", which was originally a Christmas choral piece. Last, but not least, is Doug Clyde's crowning achievement "Metamorphosis" which represents the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. The professional orchestra samples used to create this album are so life-like, that you'll forget you're listening to album recorded digitally. This collection is amazing and you'll be proud to have it in your possession!
