Lyrics!

I love Hybrid, been my favorite group for 4 plus years. But the lyrics - present in the vast majority of the songs - ruin the beautiful music that I've come to expect from Hybrid.

Great instrumentals, as always, but I can't enjoy them because of the omnipresent singing. As a final comment though I wouldn't mind half as much if they hired on Kirsty Hawkshaw (as they did in previous albums) since she actually has a bearable singing voice.

Glorious

Musically this is hybrids deepest, most elaborate work yet and they have acquired a very talented singer in Charlotte James. I am a huge hybrid fan but the reason this alblum didnt get the 5th star from me is because i would have been a little happier to see lyrics in half of the songs instead of every song but 2, which are empire and green shell suit. The reason hybrid in encorporating so much singing is to hit a broader audience which i dont blame them for i would just like to see a little more oldschool hybrid. With that said, it is still definatly a must have alblum. If you dont want the whole alblum i highly recommend original sin, green shell suit, empire, and of course break my soul

Full of nuts, but still a great pastry!

I've never been so critical about a Hybrid album before. After listening to years worth of cheese and eventually to present-day's "digital garbage," I think we can all agree that something left-field or atleast consistant would be gratifying. But if I personally feared anything more than synth trash, it'd have to be rock ballads. It definitely didn't help when the album's 10 minute teaser was polluted with guitar strumming, RNB vocals from John Graham, and loads of trap kits. It didn't stop there either. What really frosted my cinnamon roll, was when I found out that the duo had literally torn apart their own club monster "$50 Pistol," giving it a un-hybridized treatment of watered down snare drums, and the occasional electric bass. Yep, I'm talking about "Empire" folks. Flame me all you want, but for all of you who think you've found Hybrid's secret weapon, head on over to Myspace.com/HybridSoundSystem and listen to the real deal; before it get's deleted and unreleased entirely. F.Y.I. Hybrid have been known to do that. So, "Disappear Here" get's 4 stars for that and of course "Numb," which left absolutely no impression on me. But with all that out of the way, you're left with a real treat! I remember when "Morning-Sci" came out, Hybrid had totally left their commercial roots (Wider-Angle) and brewed up a spectacular release with rich basslines, soulful vocals and progressive breaks. Tradition finds the duo following in their footsteps once more; as this album is nowhere close to the epic, sample-mashing scale of "I Choose Noise." Instead, this is the more darker, more aggrivating and more intuitive vision of their 2006 success; and all from a couple of breakbeat legends. 'Still wondering if it's worth $10? You must be stupid!

Hybrid began as a trio of remixers based in the Welsh city of Swansea: Mike Truman, Chris Healings, and Lee Mullin. Meeting while going to clubs in the early '90s, the three made their own remixes of recordings, eventually earning assignments from record companies to pursue their hobby professionally. Finally, they were signed to Distinct'ive Records and embarked on making an ambitious first album, Wide Angle, in Moscow, using such talents as singer Julee Cruise and the 90-piece Russian Federal Orchestra....
