Hooray for Jes!
If you've heard "As the Rush Comes" by Motorcycle or "Everything" by Tiesto, you know that this girl has a lot to offer vocally. This album offers wonderful dance-pop and electronic-pop, each showcasing her amazing voice. Best bets include "Ghost", "Heaven", "Like a Waterfall", and "Stronger".
This is it, this is now. Cause this is all, you can have it.
A spectacular endeavor from one of dance music's most spectacular artists. While the summer of 2007 hasn't seen many noteworthy releases, Jes Brieden's solo debut is a diamond in the rough. Featuring her beautiful vocals, skillfull songwriting, and excellent production, "Disconnect" shines from start to finish. Pioneering a new genre she likes to call "Roctronica," Jes combines pop, rock, and dance sounds to create a cohesive and polished effort. I'd make note of the best tracks on the album, but honestly, each one is a masterpiece. Americans are treated to a bonus track, the acoustic version of Tiesto's "Everything," as well as the video for "Ghost." "Disconnect" is a 5-star album for fans of Madonna, Kirsty Hawkshaw, Gabriel and Dresden -- just about anything. This is one you shouldn't pass up.
Fantastic debut album!!!
Dance music fans know and love JES as the voice of Motorcyle ("As the Rush Comes"). She has also done collaborations with Deepsky, Solar Stone, D:Fuse, and Tiesto. This album is a mixture of rock, pop, electronic dance music, and just plain goodness. Each track is well crafted and offers the listener a variety of moods. From the sultry downtempo Sneaker Pimps-esque "Stronger," to the driving trance rock anthem "You and Me Belong," there is something here for every listener. Definitely get the WHOLE album. The bonus track "Everything (Acoustic Version)" is gorgeous and sublime. Congratulations JES!
