Big, BIG sound you can't pull away from...

Pet Your Friends was a quirky album in the genre of a Midnight Oil (without the politics, per se) or Eve 6. The sound was punchy punk-pop and fit right in with the few bands that weren't married to the electronica or buried in grunge -- all of which had their attributes, but seldom enough to stand out. Counting Blue Cars was a song everyone knew, but never knew the name. When I actually bought the CD used, years later, I was amazed at the rest of the songs. The sound was still immature, but the lyrics were killer and the tight compositions seemed to conflict with their depth. Then came Opaline and ohmigod, the sound caught up with the lyrics. Not since Pink Floyd or U2 had I been so mesmerized and every cord seemed to stand out with a crystal clarity your ears could taste. I listened to that CD so many times, it wore out, and I always craved more. This latest work carries the unbelieveable sound of this band forward again and the lyrics stand toe-to-toe with some of the most profound ever written. These guys are the best kept secret in rock. Eventually, they will reach everyone who looks for beautiful rock that grabs your soul and takes you for a ride. If you love to listen -- I mean really listen to mastery of instrument and voice, buy this CD.

Dishwalla Does It Again!

Every Dishwalla album exceeds the one prior. The haunting chords and lyrics go deep. The passionate approach to composition in amazing! "Collide" is a beautiful but tragic song, while "Far Away" is melodic and catchy. I highly recommend this CD along with their entire collection.

UNDERRATED BAND!!!

Unfortunately like many other people, I dismissed these guys as just another "1-hit wonder" back in the nineties. I guess part of the reason is cause all those cookie-cutter radio stations play just the "Catchiest" songs (Counting Blue Cars). Thankfully, I was watching a repeat of 'Charmed' and I heard a most amazing song, so I did some research. Turns out its Dishwalla. Imagine that, Dishwalla performing something other than that BLUE CAR song. It was love at 2nd listening! I have all of their music and I must say that they are 1 of my FAVS now. My only regret was that I could have been enjoying their stuff for many years past, although I am making up for lost time now. Forget that 'other song' folks and give the rest of em spin. This is some of the best songwriting and music I've ever heard. Melodic, brooding, haunting......WONDERFUL! Come 'Collide' with Dishwalla and thank me later!
