Fantastic New Album, But Some Notable Omissions

Murray Gold's newest series worth of music for Doctor Who has finally made it to print. Some of the biggest musical highlights of the season are brilliantly featured. First and foremost being the reworked "Opening/Closing Credits" which just adds more energy and suspense to the series. "A Noble Girl About Town" is a great arrangement of Donna's Theme that is great on its own. "Life Among the Distant Stars" is a mix of a theme used for Donna and a theme used during the deeply emotional final scene with Rose. "Turn Left" has just enough of the musical cues to make you think you are reliving that episode in 2 minutes. And tracks 21-26 definitely evoke emotions from the glorious ending of series 4. But the biggest disappointment for me was the omission of the "Tribute to the Lost Companions" in Journey's End. In one of the most emotional scenes for the Doctor ever, the music was brilliant. And it is NOT on this album. It also would have been nice to include the series 4 version of Rose's Theme (since for me, the whole series was working up to the return of Rose) and a proper inclusion of the 3/4 Series Action Theme which appears at the end of Turn Left and catapultes us into the dramatic series finale (a edited version does appear on the Series 3 album, but does not do this theme justice). For what is included, this album is a definite must have. But some omissions keep it from being the definitive Series 4 Soundtrack, which is disappointing.

My Hearts Beat for this Album

It's the greatest album of them all! Buy the whole thing, not just one or two. :D Also, to solve some a problem put up by others . . . Someone mentions that there are a few omissions in the album, songs such as "Tribute to Lost Companions" or something and a "Series 4 Rose's Theme". However, do not let this deter you from buying this beautiful piece of work. For one thing, there was no Series 4 Rose's Theme. Also, "Tribute to Lost Companions" or something is "The Dream of a Normal Death" in the Series 3 Album. With these solved, know that the album is the greatest yet. You need to buy it. Now. Obey! Obey! OBEY! EXTERMINATE!

Help on the "notable omissions*

Some of the things "Doctor" said he/she did not like was the omissions from this soundtrack. For those of who want to know, Rose's updated theme is actually "Doomsday" from the series 1&2 soundtrack. Also, the theme that plays at the end of "Turn Left" is both "All the Strange Strange Creatures"(you can't hear it in the preview, it comes later) and "YANA(excerpt.)" from the Series 3 Soundtrack. Thanks and I'm glad I could help those of you who were worried. To me this is an excellent album and just another showing of how truly brilliant Murray Gold is.
