Simply amazing.

I've seen Brian Wright play with Joe Purdy for years, and when I finally saw a Tragedies show, it was one of the greatest live performance I've ever seen. This album rules. Downtown Eloise, Radar, and Falls County are my absolute favorite songs. Ever.

A homecoming

I was lucky enough to catch The Waco Tragedies (best name I've heard in a long time) while Brian Wright and drummer, Deacon, made a stop at home in Texas with the rest of the crew and a label mate in tow. I knew these guys from several years back. I heard the music on MySpace and itunes and was impressed at the complexity and sophistication of the songs. Then I saw them perform and my head and heart were soaring. I have not seen a live show as well-performed and paced, while at the same time being truly open and intimate in front of the home town crowd of friends and family and fans. I haven't completely made up my mind yet, but this may very well have been the best live show I have ever seen. Brian Wright performed the heart-wrenching "Falls County" and was joined on stage by his brother for a duet that had both men and women in the crowd tearing up and yelling spiteful words toward the powers that be in nearby Falls County. It was true artistry and pain laid out for public inspection. Plus, K.H. is the coolest chick ever and hooked me up with a free sticker after I bought one of everything they were selling.

Brilliant!

I also saw B. Wright at the Hotel Cafe tour in Spokane and I was as impressed with his songwriting as his amazing energy on the stage. He cares about his music and it shows through his sound. Keep up the stellar work! My fave is Downtown Eloise and Pantomime.
