Album Review

A single from his 1997 Sex Style LP on Funky Ass, Kool Keith's "Don't Crush It" (as in "don't crush it when you sit up on it") got the remix treatment six years later, courtesy of techno jacker Håkan Lidbo and breakbeat DJ Dave London. Lidbo's remix is the best, with a skidding electroclash hook reminiscent of FC Kahuna's "Hayling." Keith's performance has a sliced-and-diced quality to it, but both of these productions rival the original.
