My opinion on this record

by The Magnificent '73

IMO, IV is their 3rd best album. I say #1 is Temples of Boom and #2 the debut album. This one is underrated and under appreciated. B-Real spittin' some tight venom on this album. Steel Magnolia, Dead Men Tell No Tales, Feature Presentation, Looking Thru the Eye of a Pig are all fire!!!!!

I had forgotten how classic this album actually is!!! One of their absolute best!

This is one of the albums that made me fall in love with hip hop, when I was still learning about it, along with G.O.A.T. (LL Cool J), Return of the Boombap (KRS-One), The Art of StoryTelling (Slick Rick), The Marshall Mathers LP (Eminem), Chronic 2001 (Dr. Dre) and War & Peace (Ice Cube).
I could listen to this album like 3 times in a row without skipping back in the day, and listening to it now just brings back golden memories of when I used to worship hip hop, go to the store and buy an actual CD then run home pop it in the player and spend hours in my room reading the booklets and listening to the lyrics. Really vivid stuff here, the beats are absolutely spell-binding (Prelude to A Come Up, Clash of the Titans, etc..).
And then of course there's everybody's favorite (Dr. Greenthumb!). I also remember this as the album where Cypress Hill started inching towards hard rock, with songs like: Riot Starter, Clash of the Titans/Dust and Lightning Strikes (which was featured in Twisted Metal III).
The standout tracks are: -From the Window of my Room, -Prelude to a Come Up, -Steel Magnolia, -Tequila Sunrise, -Dr. Greenthumb, -High Times and -Lightning Strikes.

Cypress Hill were notable for being the first Latino hip-hop superstars, but they became notorious for their endorsement of marijuana, which actually isn't a trivial thing. Not only did the group campaign for its legalization, but their slow, rolling bass-and-drum loops pioneered a new, stoned funk that...
