A True Yes Fan

The previous reviewer must not be that much of a Yes Fan, because this album does NOT have Jon Anderson on it. Anderson & Wakeman left the band after Tormato, and this album is when Trevor Horn & Geoff Downes (of the Buggles) came in. The music on the album is still pretty good, though quite a difference from the previous albums. Tempus Fugit is awesome.

YES Fan

This was definately a transition album into the 80's (BOO) However it still had the great Steve Howe On Guitar & of course Jon & Chris. It has the flavor of the old 70's YES which to this day is still my favorite rock band ever. I recommend this to any YES Fan.

Overlooked

Drama showcases the power trio Squire, White and Howe nearly became during this period of Yes. The departures of Rick Wakeman and Jon Anderson left plenty of open space in the music for exploration. Howe mostly stays with 6 string electric guitars, Squire is working on some new wave Richenbacher riffs, and White's drums are sharp and way up in the mix. This is as close to straight forward rock that Yes has ever released. Ironically, the addition of the Buggles (Trevor Horn on vocals, and Geoff Downes on keys) gave the album the classic Yes feel with lots of Hammond organ and piercing vocal harmonies. This album is an overlooked, powerful piece of Yes' history.

Far and away the longest lasting and the most successful of the '70s progressive rock groups, Yes proved to be one of the lingering success stories from that musical genre. The band, founded in 1968, overcame a generational shift in its audience and the departure of its most visible members at key points in its history to reach the end of the century as the definitive progressive rock band. Where rivals such as Emerson, Lake & Palmer withered away commercially after the mid-'70s, and Genesis...
