Dream Your Dream

January 2008 Ten Years Later

     

Duncan Millar's debut release on Instinct Records from 1998 holds up suprisingly well in 2008. Several of these songs are currently (as of January 2008) in heavy rotation on Smooth Jazz channels. "Dream Your Dream", "A New Day," and "Secret Smile" all have dance grooves to them and "Smokee Vibes" has a bossa nova dance feel. This should not be surprising considering Mr. Millar's background in the UK pop and dance scene. This music fits in well with the current trend of Smooth Jazz artists mining pop and dance standards. These, however, are originals. Unfortunately, this disk and 2001 "Good to Go", arrived before the growth of internet and satelite radio and probably had limited success at that time. However, with the arrival of internet radio, this album is on the Smooth Jazz radar and will perhaps convince Mr. Millar to dream again.
