iTunes Review

An exceptionally confident debut, Dreamboat Annie launched Heart as a platinum rock act on the very first try. Mixing gentle folk-style ballads with surging uptempo rockers, the album still packs a wallop today. Ann Wilson’s commanding vocals — blending silken coos with banshee wails — bring Robert Plant to mind without falling into slavish imitation. Radio listeners became familiar with the lusty thump of “Magic Man,” the strutting leer of “White Lightning and Wine” and (most of all) the soaring, mood-shifting mania of “Crazy On You.” But the softer numbers on this album are just as vital to the band’s identity as the more aggressive material. Introspective pieces like “Soul of the Sea” and “How Deep It Goes” find Heart working in a delicate mode that highlights Nancy Wilson’s polished acoustic-guitar touch. The wistful title tune is a late-blooming Summer of Love hippie effusion. Roger Fisher’s piercing lead guitar work gives able support to the Wilson sisters throughout these tracks. Muscular and misty-eyed, Dreamboat Annie captures the raw intensity of a band destined for decades of glory.

Dreamboat Annie

I love this album I'm only 13 but I've been listening to this type of music all my life, kiss, heart, marilyn Manson all that stuff I'm a huge fan!

Heart!

Magic Man and Crazy on you have got to be two of the best classic rock songs EVER

Forever Classic

Oh I remember first hearing Dreamboat Annie at my moms birthday party. Mom, dad and relatives dancing to Magic Man! It was cranked and everyone was moving! It was somewhat rare that they would listen to rock but when they did they always danced! Then I remember how it was a classic in college and now my nephews & nieces rave about Heart, the grooves, melodies, the forever classic hits. Timeless.

Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson are the creative spark behind Heart, a hard rock group who initially found success in the mid-'70s, only to reach greater heights after engineering a major comeback a decade later. The daughters of a Marine Corps captain, Ann (born June 19, 1950) and Nancy (born March 16, 1954) grew up in both Southern California and Taiwan before the Wilson family settled in Seattle, WA. Throughout their formative years, both were interested in folk and pop music; while Ann never took...
